Finance Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to work in a busy local authority office based in Spennymoor.

The Role:

  • To provide a responsive, efficient and effective administrative support to the Assessment and Awards service
  • To assist in the financial assessment process for the charging for Adult Social Care and in the managing of service users financing where Appointee and Deputyship has been taken on by the Council
  • To assist the Assessment and Awards Service to achieve excellence in its services to its customers, both internal and external
  • Contribute to the delivery of service standards, quality and performance targets for the Assessment and Awards service in accordance with the Council’s Aims and Objectives
  • Assist with the financial assessment process, including the arranging of appointments, collation and validation of service user information where required
  • Assist with the management of service users finances where Appointee and Deputyship has been taken on by the Council, including protection of property and carrying out regular financial inspections on household and service users financial records in Supported Housing and the Shared Lives Service
  • Ensuring information is accurately stored and retrieved from the Services computerised and paper information systems, including the scanning and referencing of Assessment and Award documentation when required
  • Maintain financial records and produce statistical information as requested and in accordance with the finance and accounts procedures

The Person

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working within Revenues and Benefits
  • Dealing with members of the public
  • Liaising with both internal and external customers
  • Operating on line computer systems
